Las Vegas, NV

Located about eight miles away from Las Vegas, Sam Boyd Stadium has been the home of the Las Vegas Rebels for more than three decades. Opening in 1971, and built at a cost of $3.5 million, it was originally known as Las Vegas Stadium. The Rebels played their first game at the stadium on October 23, 1971 against Weber State. The stadium had an original capacity of 15,000 when it opened.

Las Vegas Stadium was renamed Las Vegas Silver Bowl in 1978 and after local gaming pioneer Sam Boyd in 1984 getting its present name. Prior to the 1978 season the stadium was expanded to seat 32,000 fans. Retractable artificial turf, allowing multiple events at Sam Boyd Stadium was installed before the 1985 season. The latest addition to Sam Boyd Stadium was completed before the 1999 season. This included a complete facelift and renovation increasing the seating capacity to 36,800. Sam Boyd Stadium had a grass field between 1999 and 2002 before Turftech was installed in 2003.
