Known as “The Swamp”, Cajun
Field is located in the heart of Louisiana. It was built for the 1971
season and instantly got its nickname. Unlike many other stadiums,
fans attending games at Cajun Field do not have to walk up to their
seats. The field is two feet below sea level and with the field being
lower it allows fans to walk down to their seats. Because the field is
two feet below sea level, four pumps are used to keep the field in
good condition. Otherwise it would be swampy. Since its opening in
1971, the stadium has maintained a seating capacity of 31,000. In the
future, the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns hope to have many successful
seasons at the stadium.
