Along with the Florida Atlantic Owls, the Florida
International Golden Panthers made their debut as as a football
member of the Sun Belt Conference in 2005. The Golden Panthers have
played at FIU Stadium since the inception of their football program in 2002.
FIU Stadium has been the site of football and track events since
1995. It replaced Tamiami Field.

When the Golden Bears made
their debut at FIU Stadium in 2002 it originally had a seating
capacity of 21,000. After the 2006 season the stadium was demolished
and replaced with a new FIU Stadium that debuted in 2008. This stadium
has a seating capacity of 23,500 that includes 1,400 club seats. It
also features 19 luxury suites and a video/scoreboard. By the 2010
season the seating capacity will be increased to 45,000 that will also
include additional luxury suites. While the new FIU Stadium was
constructed, the Golden Bears played the 2007 season at the Orange
Bowl.
